Synopticians have issued further heatwave warnings. It’s set to be even hotter than July – and soon!
In July, we had a long-unseen heatwave in the Islands. It was so hot that a 2019 temperature record was set.
One weather station recorded 40.3 degrees Celsius in the shade. In addition, the heat pouring from the sky did a lot of damage – mainly fires that consumed not only forests but also houses.
However, meteorologists suggested that such weather would not be repeated for a long time. It was suggested that the heatwave would be cyclical, but not every month, but… three years.
It turns out that those predictions are now out of date. As James Madden of Exacta Weather reports, the sun will warm the whole country again in August.
– We are just dealing with a very unusual phenomenon in the Pacific called El Nino. It involves the persistence of unnaturally high temperatures at the surface of the water, which in turn causes further weather phenomena, the synoptician explains.
In this way, high-pressure air masses move in unexpected directions and cause weather anomalies – such as the recent heatwave. African temperatures are expected to return to the Islands soon.
– The latest weather maps suggest that temperatures will rise to very high levels again in the UK later in August. We think it will be even warmer than a few weeks ago,” says Madden.
The synoptician further points out that a forecast for identical heatwaves to July is likely, but not 100% certain. However, there is no doubt about one thing – temperatures will still rise, at least to 30-32 degrees, by the end of the holiday.
